Nathan Meador, newly elected president of the South Wisconsin District, installs new district officers during the Divine Service to close the 2025 District Convention at CUW.

This year’s theme is “One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism,” in honor of the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicea.

On June 9-10, CUW hosted the triennial convention of the South Wisconsin District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. CUW campus is the traditional site for the SWD convention, and we are proud to have our LCMS partners in the District back on campus advancing their essential work for the Kingdom of God.

“The LCMS, along with all it stands for, is essential to our identity as a university—and the congregations, church workers, and staff of the South Wisconsin District are our closest connection to the Synod,” said Dr. Erik Ankerberg, president of Concordia University Wisconsin and Ann Arbor. “Hosting the South Wisconsin District Convention every three years is an honor.  We pray that the worship, fellowship, and business conducted at the convention inspires everyone involved as we walk together, carrying out our mission.”

The Convention is designed to bring delegates together from every congregation in the District; each congregation is represented by one pastoral and one lay delegate. Besides the delegates, there are representatives from other Synodical agencies on campus, including those from the Concordia University System.

Among the primary objectives of the convention is to elect new officers, board members, and other positions.

About the South Wisconsin District

From swd.lcms.org

The South Wisconsin District, formed in 1916, is one of 35 districts of The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS). Covering the southern third of the state of Wisconsin, the District serves the 82,600 baptized members in 199 churches, 23 preschools, 51 elementary schools, 8 high schools, and 1 university.

In addition to proclaiming the Gospel within our congregations, each of us has the opportunity to help one another do it outside of our own reach, out of our local neighborhoods, or even in another language.

Our elected, called, and appointed staff members serve as advisors and general resources to the members of our District.
